Eruption Merapi in 2010

The eruption of Mount Merapi in Java, which occurred on 26 October 2010 made the restless people who are in the mountain Area. Eruption of Mount Merapi has claimed 232 lives and also killed the Interpreter Lock Mount, namely "Mbah Maridjan". This natural disaster brought sorrow to all the people of Indonesia and the World. Incandescent lava and hot volcanic ash which is also referred to as "Wedhus Gembel" reaches 600 degrees Celsius is destroying everything in its path, including rural and residential Mbah Maridjan. "Warning Status" being conducted by the Government of Yogyakarta and surrounding areas due to natural phenomena is very difficult to predict. The villages located within a radius of approximately 10 km from Mount Merapi evacuation is expected to be done in case if the eruption changed direction as well as the wind direction can bring volcanic ash which can interfere with breathing humans. Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono 10th when interviewed olh TV ONE said. "The condition of the city of Yogyakarta is safe, so do not hesitate to come to this city, Mount Merapi would not explode, but only issued and Radius Eruption Eruption is not reached over a distance of 10km". This is what makes citizens feel safe and permanent Yogyakarta perform activities as usual.

The following chronology of eruption of Merapi October 26, 2010

Towards 16.00 pm
Volcanic activity is still likely to rise, after the rise in status to "Caution" since the day before. Visually via a camera that is placed on the slopes of Merapi observation post could not be observed directly because of fog since a few hours earlier. Even items that are on the slopes of Merapi also reported that they could not monitor visually. Communication via radio network HT.

At 16:00 to 17:00 pm
There was a significant increase in activity include volcanic earthquakes, multiphase (MP), avalanches, etc. But it is still considered not 'quite' dangerous. There was no visual picture at all. All depends only on the tools. Got there by a number of national media interviews on relevant officers possibility / scenario eruption will occur.

At 5:00 p.m. to 17:30 pm
A surge in volcanic activity are very sharp, especially starting at 17:02 pm, which was the hot clouds glide. Four seismograph was all recorded vibration amplitude very wide (large), even the needle came off repeatedly. Monitoring officers got busy and frantic remarkable, especially because of the magnitude of the amplitude and duration of the incident. Observation posts on the slopes was also reported this, it's just completely unknown, what is it hot clouds / the others. All covered in thick fog. No one can guess what's behind the thick fog.

17:30 pm - 18:30 pm
The fog was very thick and getting dark. Increasingly difficult to know what is happening at Merapi. Four seismograph recorded vibration still a very large (and again several times until the needle off, and rolls of paper quickly replaced once - although normally 12 hours). The officer stated there 3 times eruptions and hot clouds glide and possibly explosive spread in all directions. Memperintahkan center officials on all postal clerk on the slopes of Merapi to immediately leave the post, down to the evacuation. Officers also contact officers in some places, so that the forced evacuation of residents. Sirens sounded in various places. HT radio network started very crowded, so did the telephone network in the post. Some officers look very panic (crying?), While continuing to pray.

At 18:30 to 19:00 pm
Center officials issued a statement / official information on the media, on the occurrence of this eruption, and the focus now is on the evacuation. Volcanic activity was detected in the seismograph began to decline, except one seismograph in Plawangan / Turgo / Kalikuning. Officers worrying about Kinahrejo area (where Mbah Maridjan), Kaliadem, and around the southern slopes of Merapi.

19:00 - ...
Officers at observation posts Merapi ride back to their posts (but some are still barred from returning for a while). Rain gravel and ash began to be reported by the monitoring stations, especially in the area southwest of Merapi. The smell of sulfur can also be kissed from around the slopes. Merapi activity is monitored from seismographs, continued to decline, even the normally quiet stable, although sometimes several times a material avalanches occur. Visually Merapi is still shrouded in fog, so that no one can can see 'how big eruption, where the direction of the hot clouds, etc.'. Conditions officers began to calm down, even several times seen joking. Journalists and the media continues to standby at the monitoring center, and some follow up to the Ground.

Aftermath
BPPTK officer stated Merapi is currently in a state of deep sleep after this activity. Not yet known whether there will be a continuation of volcanic activity again. They had time to worry, if that happens just before a new / beginning only. As the patterns of previous eruption of Merapi, which is usually in childhood, then medium, large, reduced, back to normal again, and so on. Hotspots / lava flows also can not be confirmed. What happened was greater than was the case in 2006.
Location affected eruption / hot clouds this afternoon, most likely the areas around the slopes of Merapi, within a radius of 4-6 km, especially the southern slopes.
Ash / dust volcanic reported even Gombong - Kebumen. Evacuation is still underway.
